Girls Club
For many, many years St Brigid’s was host to the 2nd Newmains Brownie Pack. This long association ended in 2001, and St Brigid’s Girl’s Club was established. The Club meets in St Brigid’s Centre every Monday evening, ably led by Mary McNulty, who for the previous 18 years led our Brownies. Around 20 girls attend the Club each week.

Womens Guild
St Brigid’s Women’s Guild has been ‘on the go’ since Pontius was a Pilot! The ladies meet every Tuesday afternoon in the Parish Centre, and have been (and continue to be) responsible for many of the social and fund raising activities in St Brigid’s, as generations of priests and people can testify. The ladies are always delighted to welcome new members into their Group.

Bar Group
Prior to the renovation of St Brigid’s Centre in 1999, St Brigid’s was always able to rely on a team of volunteers to look after the ‘spiritual dimension’ of any celebrations in the parish hall. In 1999 St Brigid’s Centre was first granted a Public House Licence, and many of those same volunteers joined our Bar Group.

We now have a Committee of half a dozen members who take it in turn to be responsible for the smooth running of the Bar, assisted by additional volunteers from the Bar Rota. All who use our facilities are very grateful to all of them for their generous contribution to the smooth running of the functions in our Centre.

Indoor Bowling
Our Indoor Bowling Group has changed somewhat from the days it was first established by members of our Catholic Men’s Society. Nowadays, to join the Group, you needn’t be a catholic or a man! In fact you don't even need to be an experienced or skilled bowler. The bowlers meet every Wednesday evening in St Brigid’s Centre, and in addition are sometimes involved in visits and competitions elsewhere. The Group is always happy to welcome new members, novices and experts alike.

Ballroom Dancing
Around two dozen ladies meet each Monday evening to dance the night away in St Brigid’s Centre. (Or, so they say. The parish priest claims they spend most of their time drinking tea and having a natter!) Anyway, summer or winter, hail or shine - the ladies turn up every week and have a great time. You’re very welcome to join!
